Six-episode first series of medical themed ITV drama. Rhoda Bradley (Tamzin Outhwaite) is a frustrated supermarket check out assistant with a rather challenging domestic life; mother of three children, one of whom has Cystic Fibrosis. Rhoda discovers the health service has become keen to recruit older people from 'ordinary backgrounds' like hers, and decides to become a doctor herself. Despite her enthusiasm, the road is fraught with obstacles. Her husband Jason (Harry Lloyd) only agrees to the plan because of their financial problems. Her sister who always wanted to be a doctor but wound up being a nurse, works in the same hospital Rhoda is to be trained at.
